Every spot gets a Hangout Score out of 10 from what's on its page, worked out the same way for every venue:
Value (40%): each deal's price against what Vancouver spots typically charge for the same thing, plus the cheapest drink.
Selection (25%): how many deals, how many kinds of drink, and whether there's food.
Hours (20%): hours of happy hour a week, weekends and late night.
Vibe (15%): patio, live music, good for groups and near transit.
Spots need at least 3 deals, 2 with prices, and confirmed times to be scored, so 3 of the 17 spots in Langley aren't ranked yet. A spot needs 4.5 or more to make a best-of list. No venue pays to be listed or ranked, and we don't use Google star ratings. Every spot here had its times confirmed on its own menu within the last 14 days (oldest: Nov 1, 2026); a spot whose page stops showing our times drops off until it's confirmed again. Menus are re-checked every night and the list updates with them. Full method.
Fort Pub & Grill, with a Hangout Score of 8.6 out of 10: drinks from $5, most deals under the Vancouver norm. The Barley Merchant Taproom & Kitchen (8.1) and An Indian Affair restaurant (8.0) round out the top three.
How are these happy hours ranked?
By the Hangout Score, worked out the same way for every spot from the deals and times we publish: value against typical Vancouver prices (40%), selection (25%), hours (20%) and vibe (15%).
Can a bar pay to rank higher?
No. Nothing a venue pays for changes its score or its place on a list, and we don't use Google star ratings. Scores change only when a venue's own menu does.
